Evidence when the Healthcare Organization Performed Best

Several factors combine to make a healthcare organization perform at its best. The Healthcare industry is quite vast and is always a necessary organization in every country, investing and improving it should be the goal of businessmen and government. It is safe to say that there is no best way to run an organization but there are several best practices that combine for a healthcare organization to perform in its best possible manner in terms of satisfied and contented staff and improved quality of care with patient safety in the hospital. But it is really important to understand which features are working towards the best performance. Quality appraisals have been the most benefitting method that improved the system, whenever any nurse or healthcare professional performs well they should be applauded and encouraged through monetary rewards.

Medical Case Study

A strong leadership approach needs to be there where every person has his or her known well-defined roles so that there are no confusion and conflicts over power. The value of teamwork and coordination is unmatched as that promotes share of knowledge and experience among the staff member which often leads to effective communication as team working improves the organization’s culture and values (Li et al., 2018). Plan-do-check-act (PDCA) safety measures can also improve patient safety and satisfaction in the hospital they are being checked. This approach is used to make a care coordination plan that focuses on phases to find the result. The first phase has its complete focus on planning where the experiences and opinions of each relevant team member are considered before making an action plan for the hospital.

The Do phase is the trial and error check phase when after the complete planning stage an action plan comes into the light and that focuses on identifying the errors that can be taken into account if the trial does not work according to the judged results. The checking phase has a lot to do with the identified errors and making adjustments in the action plan.

The acting phase is about the final adjustments and implementation of the coordination and action plan. This plan has been quite effective in the healthcare industry as it increases the quality of care and safety of the patient through effective planning and reviewing of the whole plan. A questionnaire survey was carried out to understand how impactful and beneficial this tool was for the safety of the patients and it turned out that the head nurses and the staff nurses informed that there was an 86.7% improvement in patient safety by this intervention tool (Seleem et al., 2019).

Several measures of quality and care bring a positive outcome for the safety of patients but to understand it furthermore appreciate the inquiry approach along with SWOT analysis in sued to identify the strength in the healthcare organization, along with its weakness, threats, and opportunities. These factors play a major role in getting a competitive edge over other organizations and gaining a perspective that is not commonly known. This method of analysis provides the data based on the current circumstance of the organization and helps in making strategies for the future events that might arise in the healthcare industry it prepares an organization for the better and for the worse that might come their way.

Positive Quality and Safety Improvement Goals for the Care Setting

As world dynamics are changing it is important to understand that the requirement for making some serious changes in the healthcare systems is also changing. New types of diseases have entered the world that requires different type of settings and the needs are also changing. The nurses and other healthcare professionals need to adopt an approach that supports and mental health of their colleagues and patients are taken into account. To improve their system and work in an updated environment the healthcare professionals and care setter have brought in some SMART goals for the quality and safety improvement in the healthcare organizations. The first goal needs to be Quality, this is something that should never be ignored in any given circumstances. A healthcare organization without the quality of care is nothing, it is a very important aspect of the healthcare industry to understand the needs of the patients and the hired staff alongside.

If the quality is compromised that means that the system is lacking its basics, the primary goal of every healthcare setup needs to be providing quality care. The quality goal is not just restricted to the quality of treatment or the staff, it is linked to everything in the organization. Another goal is to maintain good relations with the government and the private funders as in that way financial difficulties will not come in the way of success. Healthy partnerships and sponsorships should be considered which benefit both the parties not just one in that way organization will be able to reach its desired heights of success. A collaborative approach needs to be used for colleagues and patients. Collaboration promotes team working that will lead to improved decision-making and along with that workload division will also be done smartly among the staff members. Collaborations are always a tool for a share of knowledge and experience so it should be taken seriously as it also promotes safety and motivation for the patients and the healthcare professionals. To improve the goal and safety it is advised to the nurses to have a supportive approach which means having empathy towards patients that will result in increased satisfaction among the patients and ultimately result in an improved reputation for those. Another goal needs to be lesser readmissions of the patients as that increases unnecessary costs, until and unless the patient is fit they should not be discharged from the hospital.

The funding programs should be managed well to save the lives of less fortunate people by providing insurance and funding packages to the healthcare organization. The surveys have shown that 60% of deaths are caused by the poor quality of care. To manage the human and financial resources most efficiently it is important to maintain the quality of care. Digitalization should be introduced for the ease of the nurses and other healthcare staff. The record-keeping will become easier, all the records will be available the medication errors will also not take place instead of writing everything it can be added to the phone Apps and iPads to decrease the unnecessary tasks of an individual (Kruk et al., 2018).

SWOT Analysis of the Care Setting

SWOT analysis is a method of understanding internal and external factors that impact the healthcare organization in positive and negative ways. This analysis tool provides the ways through which improvements can be brought in the future and ways to have stronger and better organizational decision-making. While designing strategies for the company it is really important to first understand the strength, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities involved in the decision-making and understand all the required factors. It is very important to understand the SWOT analysis before implementing the goals that are ment5ioned above. The strengths are the factors where an organization feels they work best for example having a clear job description and having highly motivated staff members these are the factors that are usually the strengths of the healthcare organizations where the quality of care works great, patients leave the hospital with satisfaction towards their health and the way they get treated.

There are several weaknesses as well of the healthcare organizations such as medication errors by the pharmacists resulting in life-threatening factors for the patients, this even happens because of lack of communication the message is not delivered correctly that is the reason electronic systems are preferred so that digitally all the messages can be delivered to the people and they could give the medicines in the right way to the patients. Having a weaker drug management staff will impact the overall organizational image as well. In such cases, the hospitals are also fined by the government for not following the right drug protocols. All the strengths can become a weakness and all weaknesses can be turned into strengths just by putting a little more effort into the areas that are weaker in the organization.

Opportunities are something that is needed to be taken at the right moment to succeed. A healthcare organization can receive many opportunities in terms of providing quality to the patients and the staff that will improve the image to gain the limelight for the right reasons. Improved government funding programs that will benefit the financial management of the resources. Another opportunity is showing the availability of staff for 24 hours as more patients will be interested in visiting such hospitals in case of emergency. Another opportunity can be having an inbuilt pharmacy inside the hospital so that patients do not have to go out of the hospital of their families to get the medications everything is under one roof which makes the task easier for the patients and healthcare professionals.

Just as mentioned for the strengths and weaknesses the relationship between the opportunities and threats are the same. We need to understand that all the opportunities not availed at the right time could become a threat and all the threats if adopted at the right time and even later with improved quality can become an opportunity. Threats mostly come from the competitors in the same industry, this is the reason behind advising to keep the staff satisfaction in check because most experienced and qualified individuals are hired by the competitors to improve their services and quality of care.

It is very important to keep updating the system as in the era of digitalization if an organization relies on the old methods they tend to fall behind the competition and fail as an organization. The limited visiting hours for the patient’s family also creates a mess it is really important to understand the value and provide longer visiting hours as such measures act as a threat. This analysis provided us with the guidelines that are important to be considered while managing a healthcare organization and when the goals are being set for the organization these factors should be kept in mind (Certainty’s et al., 2022).

Areas of Concern to be improved in the Care Setting

After understanding the SWOT analysis for the healthcare setting it is quite evident which areas require attention and the ways through which we need to plan for maintaining the strengths and overcoming the weaknesses. For strengths, the method is simple supervising the system and leaving no error margins that could turn into a weakness in the long run. But to overcome the identified weaknesses it is very important to keep an eye on the pharmaceutical service that is being provided no errors occur in the drug inventory and the medications being provided to the patients the team should be formed to double check this department. Special training should be given to the pharmacists or simply hire the well-experienced ones in such areas. Team working should be a normal ritual to make sure the system integration makes the staff motivated and the performance and productivity levels keep improving.

Doctors communication

The same is the case with opportunities availing and implementing them at the right time will take the organization to success heights as the threats will also be minimized for the healthcare organization. The healthcare setting needs to understand that the real asset is the staff they should invest in them and take care of them too to improve the quality of care in the healthcare organization. Monthly inspections and monitoring are very important to maintain the set quality standards and the use advance technology will keep it and make it an updated system for the people and staff. Strategies are needed to be planned in such a way that it automatically aims for long-term benefits not just for the short term if long-term plans are made the success will also last for a longer period (Certainty’s et al., 2022).

Comparison of AI and SWOT Approaches

It provides a positive approach to bringing changes in the healthcare setting. The AI approach has 5 stages first is about defining the topic of interest this approach is being carried for, the second stage is discovery in this case the current scenario is most appreciated and the focus is on ways this current scenario is benefitting the healthcare setting. The second stage is a dream where the possibilities are imagined which can be said to planning the ways through which improvements can be brought into the system. The first phase is designing the planning stage towards the action plan that what needs to be done to reach the desired goal. The final stage is destiny where with the help of an action plan what will be the best way to succeed is reached. But this theory is criticized for the approach it uses as it does not highlights the negatives that might be happening in the system and what impact is it having on the organization. The AI approach is a good research tool but strategies not be taken relying on this tool only. It also does not take into account the eternal factors that might be threats to the healthcare setting. SWOT analysis whereas provides a detailed overview of the system and its problems highlighting all the internal and external elements of the business (Hung et al., 2018).

Importance of Leadership and Collaboration in Leaders Dealing with Such Performance Issues

To deal with the problems related to the quality concerns in healthcare organizations it is really important to have such measures that some leadership’s roles are also to be looked at and taken into account. In complex working environments most issues arise from the work culture and not having well-defined roles. An open door policy needs to be adopted so that the staff has the right to communicate their concerns to the relevant authorities. It is really important to understand that having a collaborative leadership approach will make it easier to have a well-motivated and satisfied staff that will take care of the performance concerns. Task-oriented and relation-oriented styles of leadership need to be used so that the heads and the ones at higher authority are well aware of the matters that are happening on the ground level. Teams should have leaders that are responsible for handling and managing the team most effectively and trying to resolve any team issues to maintain a healthy lifestyle (Bernita et al., 2018). The leaders need to make sure that they maintain and follow a collaborative approach while dealing with the staff and patients. When collaboration will become a common practice this will increase and improve the quality of care and patient safety in the healthcare organization. Leaders must introduce training as well for all the technical advancements brought into the system so that there are lower margins or errors and everyone is well-aware of the matters concerning the staff and patients (Al Jabri et al., 2021).
